Let’s Blog Over Valentine’s Day…
Ralph and I have never celebrated Valentine’s Day outside of an airport. He usually has basketball games he’s playing in, or NBA All Star events to attend. This year we’re skipping all of that and staying in. I’m not into the whole red and pink, cheesy cupid and helium heart balloons, but we definitely are all about the romance and love (everyday). If you need help setting the mood I did a post earlier this week that you can check out here.
We’ll be starting off with champagne. I’ve listed my favorites here if you need suggestions. Oh and the wine!!! Tonight we’ll be drinking Robert Mondavi | 2001 | Cabernet Sauvignon | Reserve | Bringing it back to one of our old favorites, and one of the classics, the Mondavi reserve. Notes of smoked meat, blackberries, cassis, tobacco, pepper, cedar, black currant, chocolate, red cherries, baking spice. Still rather youthful, elegant on the palate with nice acidity and the tannins are still very much present. Secondary spice and earth notes are barely taking over, giving it a nice balance of both worlds. In a nice window to drink now, but easily will go on for the next 5-7 years before declining. | 93 points | $120 |
Tonight’s feast will consist of an arugula and fennel salad with citrus vinaigrette. We’ll be dining on braised short ribs with celeriac puree, garnished with horseradish bread crumbs. Keep in mind that you can get creative with short ribs. You can vegetables, make different sorts of sides. It’s a win always with this dish. We’ll be ending the night with spiked banana pudding and caramelized bananas.
My friends have been driving me crazy about sharing my playlist. If you want to know the sounds I’ll be listening to tonight, My That’s The Way Love Goes playlist is up on spotify.
If you all are wanting to know my playlist I listen to when I post on my stories, you can listen in here! Shuffle it up, pour some wine, and cook!
I’ll be on instagram cooking live today if you need to follow along.
Happy Valentine’s Day
